How you start this day, sets the tone for the rest of the week.
I grew up in a household where it was believed that Sundays were for resting. I have no idea where that belief went because as an adult, my Sundays are typically rat-race crazy. I have just recently started to get back to the restful Sunday, and I’m going to share a few things I do on Sunday mornings to get my week off to a great start.
Hydrate and Replenish
After my brain wakes up and I make my way down stairs, I make sure I get a tall glass of room temperature H2O. I squeeze in the juice of a lemon to add to the cleansing and balancing effect.
I’m also an avid tea drinker and lately have been so impressed with this Dandelion tea by Republic of Tea. The dandelion root is excellent for detoxing the liver and kidneys, and also flushes out any additional toxins.
Get Some Fresh Air
I am super lucky to have a back yard full of lush greenery. I get outside, take some deep breaths and connect with nature for a few minutes. First thing in the morning, it’s the most peaceful place…aside from birds, owls, squirrels, and the occasional woodpecker!
Read a Few Pages
Whether it’s a cook book or a Bible, reading improves cognitive agility. I forgot where I found this book, but it is full of ways to do absolutely nothing. Sometimes we need to be told how to relax and unwind.
Protein and veggies are always my go-to for breakfast, but today I decided to get a bit gourmet and make a yummy omelette loaded with mushroom, red pepper, onion and spinach. Super quick and easy to make. If you are vegetarian, you can always substitute with egg beaters.
As an added bonus, I tried this wheat-grass shot from Whole Foods. It tastes great and will add to my balancing regime.
Now off to the pool and sauna! Cheers!
